Rissa's Artistic Design

 Jewelry Sculpturist

Clarissa Knighten is a self-taught jewelry sculpturist who began creating in 2007, channeling her artistic expression to cope with clinical depression and bulimia. After transitioning from the corporate world in 2017, she fully embraced her creative path and has since gained national recognition. Her bold, sculptural pieces have been featured in numerous fashion shows and appeared on the covers and pages of prominent magazines.

In 2021, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art curated Knighten’s work for the Testimony exhibition, honoring the African American Artists Collective. Her 17-by-5-foot tapestry—crafted from wood and pearls—now adorns the ceiling of The Kansas City Museum.

In 2023, she was named one of Kansas City's Innovators and Influencers by In Kansas City Magazine. Knighten is a co-organizer and one of the main facilitators of the ArtWorks program at InterUrban ArtHouse, where she also serves as an advisor. She is a board member of No Divide KC, an organization that uses art to bridge social divides. Knighten believes her art creates space for conversation and connection:

"If you want to draw people to you, wear R.A.D—my art will start the conversation for you."
